In order to really appreciate all that Quebec has to offer, you'll need a car hire to move about the province. Located in north-eastern Canada, Quebec is a large, sparsely populated province. Quebec has a population of roughly 7.8 million, spread throughout the 1.6 million square kilometers of land. This means that there is plenty of open space for people to enjoy, including the 27 national parks throughout the province. This beautiful, untouched forestland is the perfect place to explore with your hire car on your holiday. Make sure you take the time to visit the Parc National de Miguasha. This captivating natural preserve has fossil specimens of fish and plants that are 380 million years old. The park is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and once you visit you'll understand why. Not only are the prehistoric fossils incredible to see in person, but the wide-open landscape and forested hills are breathtaking to behold.
It's also worth taking Highway 175 north from Quebec City with your car. This road winds its way through the incredible wilderness. Hwy 175 runs for thousands of kilometers, so there are plenty of opportunities to stop and camp, take pictures or visit small towns along the way.
Another interesting self-drive is from Quebec City along Hwy 20, which will take you along the picturesque Gulf of St. Lawrence. It's about 550 kilometers to the park, so it takes about a day to make the trip with your car.
