    Car Hire Switzerland

Explore the most of Switzerland with Car Hire

Discover the beautiful country of Switzerland in your rental car. Experience breathtaking views of the Alps and visit the charming villages that this country has to offer. Start your holiday stress-free and book your rental car with Auto Europe. We work with major international and local suppliers to bring our clients the lowest prices.

    Country Essentials

Traffic flows on the right-hand side of the road in Switzerland. Geneva is on the border with France, so if you are driving around the city make sure that you have all the necessary documents and equipment to comply with French road rules too.

    Standard Inclusions

In Switzerland, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and theft protection are included in our Auto Europe rates. The CDW and theft protection reduces the deductible (responsibility of the client) to a capped amount. Fire insurance is also included in your car rental. Super CDW is usually offered locally to reduce the deductible of your rental to as low as zero.  Excess Refund Insurance can be purchased from Auto Europe when you make your booking. This insurance refunds your excess costs up to $5000 should any damage occur to the vehicles during your rental.Economy Car Rental

    Driving in Switzerland

With four official languages and innumerable varieties of chocolate, Switzerland is a land of great cultural and geographical wealth. Enjoy downhill skiing on the Alps, a relaxing tour of the unique Swiss vineyards on Lake Geneva, or indulge your adventurous spirit with a trip on a paraglider taxi.

Divided into twelve regions, or cantons, Switzerland is home to many different cultures and cuisines. Jump in the car and head off to sample cheese fondue in Baden after a day on the slopes, a steaming bowl of pasta with prosciutto and lardo after the Rabadan carnival, or Carré d'agneau aux herbettes as you soak up the atmosphere in a French bistro in Geneva. You will have the opportunity to indulge in a veritable smorgasbord of cuisine that mixes regional dishes with each other to create the perfect meal out.

There are several opportunities for both adventure and relaxation in Switzerland during all four seasons of the year. Experience some of the most beautiful hiking trails in Europe, or be pampered in a legendary Swiss spa. Take a hot air balloon ride through the Alps on a crisp autumn afternoon, or take a leisurely boat cruise on one of Switzerland's many lakes. With so much to experience in Switzerland, a car hire will give you the freedom to explore and take in the sights at your own pace.

Use your car hire in Switzerland to travel through the different linguistic regions of the country and immerse yourself in the distinct cultures while you sample the traditional fare.

    Licence Requirements

It is a requirement that visiting motorists carry their valid Australian State or Territory driving licence in addition to a valid International Driving Permit which must be obtained before leaving Australia. The minimum age to rent a car in Switzerland is 18 years, though some suppliers may charge a fee for young drivers (25 and under) and you must have held a full licence for a minimum of one year. Some suppliers may have a maximum age limit of 75 years.

    Tolls and Freeways

Highways in Switzerland require a toll sticker. This will already be equipped in your vehicle when hiring.

    Fleet Guide

You can find details of great cars available for hire, the luggage space and different car categories in Switzerland by checking out our fleet guide. Please note that not all cars are available at all locations.

    Border Crossings

Travel is permitted in to Western European nations, though some restrictions apply on travel in to Italy for some car categories. For travel east, it is necessary to confirm with Auto Europe which countries are permitted to travel in to. There will be cross-border fees and increased insurance costs paid locally. Ensure that your itinerary is permitted before you travel. If your preferred itinerary is restricted by the supplier, alternatively return the vehicle within the same country and pick up a new rental car in your next destination.
