It may surprise you, but Geneva airport has two entries and exits. One exit leads to Switzerland and the other one to France. Depending on where you are travelling to, you have the option to collect on whichever side is convenient for you.
If you plan to travel within Switzerland we suggest collecting from the Swiss side of the airport. This means that your car should be equipped with winter tyres which are mandatory by law during winter. Cars are also more likely to include the necessary Swiss highway vignette, which is needed to travel on Swiss highways.
For travel within France, collection on the French side of the airport is suggested and easiest, meaning you don't need to cross back over the border. If you are planning on going to the French Alps you may wish to consider collecting in Switzerland, so you have winter tyres, if needed.
If you are looking at completing a one way rental with a collection in France, returning to the French side of the airport can mean a lower or no one way fee. Geneva can also be used as a changeover point for one way rentals. Complete your first rental in France and return to the French side, cross over to the Swiss side and collect a second rental.
