    Car Hire Prague

Compare and save on Car Hire in Prague

Located in the heart of the Czech Republic, sits the capital city of Prague. Take in the city's astonishing architecture and find out why German writer Goethe called Prague "the prettiest gem in the stone crown of the world". Prague's influence has extended far beyond the Czech Republic over the years. It is home to a host of wonderful museums and monuments, miraculously preserved despite much of the ruin that faced most of central Europe during World War II. Take a tour of Franz Kafka's former residence or listen to some jazz music at the Reduta Jazz Club, one of Europe's foremost jazz clubs. Don't leave without touring the Prague Castle and walking across the Charles Bridge after visiting the clock tower in Prague's town centre. Also worth a visit is Josefov, a historic Jewish ghetto containing Europe's oldest active synagogue.

Outside of the city, visit Novosedly na Moravě, where you can take a horseback ride through the vineyards of Moravia, or spend a day in Ceský Ráj hiking through forests and valleys covered with enormous sandstone cliffs and columns. From Prague head to Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic, just a two-hour drive from Prague.

    Parking and Tolls in Prague

As with many cities, parking near the city centre can be congested. Additionally, many streets in Prague require a residential permit and will tow a car without one. However, there are many park and ride options available in Prague that provide an easy, inexpensive option for travellers with vehicles. Private car parks should also be available in the city, but maybe more expensive.

Highways in and out of Prague will likely have tolls. To travel on these roads you will need to purchase a road-usage tax sticker with a highway symbol, available for purchase at gas stations, post offices and border crossings. Stickers are sold in weekly, monthly and annual increments and must be displayed in the lower right-hand corner of the vehicle windscreen.
