Recognised for art and culture since the 15th century, Ljubljana is a cosmopolitan city with amazing sites that rival even many larger destinations in Europe. Although the nation of Slovenia and Ljubljana as a capital city are relatively young compared to other destinations in Europe, the city and surrounding area have long been a centre for arts and culture, an influence which is evident in the appearance of the city today. Begin your visit at the heart of the city, where the famous Triple Bridge, a unique bridge made up of three separate crossings over the Ljubljanica River. Then visit St. Nicholas Cathedral and the Dragon Bridge, which is decorated with four large statues of dragons, now a symbol of the city. Ljubljana is blessed with a long list of historical sites and attractions, which are presented in a pleasant, classical city much like those found in wealthier western countries. Don't miss the Ljubljana Castle, which was built on a hill high above the city in the 15th century.
Drive out to Bled, considered by some to be the most enchanting town in Slovenia, just an hour away from Ljubljana. Bled is known for its island church, which stands on a small island in the middle of a lake bordering the town. While here, adrenaline junkies may want to hit Triglav National Park or the Julian Alps, which offer plentiful opportunities for outdoor adventures. Alternatively, travel to Divaca to see the Skocjan Caves, Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Skocjan Caves Regional Park includes the highest cave hall in Europe, waterfalls and an enormous gorge with a bridge for visitors to walk over. Think twice about this bit if you're afraid of heights!

As with most cities, parking in the city centre can be a difficult task. Meters require payment Monday-Friday until 6 pm and Saturdays until 1 pm. After paying, a receipt will be provided and must be left on the dashboard of the car. Make sure to carry small currency, as no change will be provided. A number of hotels in the city centre provide complimentary parking for guests.
Vignettes (toll stickers) are compulsory for all Slovenian motorways. Please confirm details upon booking or picking up your car, as various suppliers may have different policies surrounding vignettes.
