As summer is coming to an end the time is now or never to squeeze in one last holiday! Auto Europe has put together the perfect summer drive that starts in Sydney and travels south. Whether you're in a car hire or motorhome this full circle itinerary is something that you can enjoy with friends or family. We will visit beautiful beaches, boutique shops and delicious eateries along the way. The best part is you can choose how long you stay in each place. Start your engines, we are on our way!
Starting in Sydney, head two hours south to Wollongong. Here you can go for a dip at North Wollongong Beach. Partake in water sports such as kayaking and canoeing. Wander through the art gallery, the Science centre or the historic motorlife museum. Wollongong boasts a number of walking trails and lookouts that you can climb to for beautiful scenic views of the beach and lush green surroundings including the Hill 60 Lookout and Maddens Falls. After spending some time in Wollongong, continuing driving one hour south until you reach the charming town of Berry.
Berry is a food lover's paradise. If you have a sweet tooth then a visit to The Treat Factory is a must. Buy handmade chocolates, jams, sour lollies, syrups, marmalades, ice cream. A sweet tooth heaven! For peace and quiet, head to the Silos Estate vineyard which is set within a 40 acre property. Enjoy a delicious meal at the Silos restaurant and admire the flora that surrounds you. Wind down with a visit to the Berry Tea Shop. This is a must for those who love all things tea, from teacups to saucers, cake stands and a variety of local tea leaf blends.
Next stop is Hyams Beach, just an hour south of Berry. Not only does this beach have the whitest sand in the world & azure water clarity, it's also surrounded by lush green national parks. Spend the day soaking up some rays on the beach or trying different water sports. There are many water activities to try such as diving, snorkelling, surfing, sailing, kayaking and stand up paddling boarding. Prefer to stay out of the water? Go on a bushwalk on one of the many trails through the Booderee National Park.
The final leg of our trip is an hour and a half drive from Hyams Beach to Bowral. Bowral is the largest town in the Southern Highlands. Cricket fan? You can't go past the Bradman Museum. While those who prefer the outdoors can wander the Centennial Vineyards and try a wine or two (if you are a passenger of course!) Be sure to visit the boutiques and antique shops in the heart of Bowral to pick up a bargain and unique household items. There are also a number of art galleries which offer different exhibitions throughout the year.
