    Driving in the Snow

Is the idea of driving in the snow enough to put you off hiring a car? Every year thousands of Australian's travel overseas to experience a white winter in Europe or the USA. It can be a daunting thought for a driver who isn't used to driving in snowy conditions. However you shouldn't let this put you off enjoying your holiday.

If you are going to be driving in the snow you will need to check with the supplier before you pick your hire car up if you need winter tyres or snow chains fitted. If you do, car rental suppliers usually charge you extra for this. It is important to keep in mind that if the rental supplier advises that you need these tyres you must pay the additional charge to have the tyres fitted if not you may not be able to rent the car, not to mention putting the safety of your family and yourself at risk. If you still feel a bit uncomfortable about driving in the snow you can call through to the depot you will be picking the car up from to check what the weather is like. Staff at the depot will be able to give you a good idea of how the weather is and if you can still drive in the winter conditions. If you are driving while it is snowing or just after remember to take it easy and pull over if you don't feel comfortable driving.
