Just a little outside the town of Kenton lies Powderham Castle, a magnificent building set in a large deer park. With secret gardens, wildlife, and a play castle for children there's plenty for both young and old. Continue further south with your hire car towards the town of Torquay, located on the coastline. Right next to Torquay is Babbacombe Model Village, an entire miniature world complete with cities, cars, trains, people and lights. A unique attraction highly popular with children also.
For a day enjoying the outdoors, take your hire car a short drive west of Exeter, to Darmoor National Park, the largest wilderness area in southern UK. The park features vast rolling green hills scatted with granite boulders and rocky outcrops, creating some spectacular scenery. An excellent area to tour for those lucky enough to have their own rental car, exploring the park will lead you to many rivers, bridges, forests and meadows, as well as numerous historical buildings. A great day out for anyone visiting the southern parts of England.
