Travelling in Siena with a Car Hire

A highly recommended first stop for visitors to Siena, is the Piazza del Campo, the main square in the centre of town, and one of the largest medieval squares in Europe. Park your hire car in the centre of town, and explore the square, which is the site of Palazzo Comunale, the town hall of the 13th century, along with several other historical buildings. The highlight of the square though, would have to be the Torre de Mangia, a tower over 100 metres tall, from the top of which you will get an amazing view of the city. What a perfect introduction to the area!

Drive your rental car a few blocks west of here, and visit another of Siena’s squares, the Piazza del Duomo. It is here you will find the cathedral of Saint Mary, built in the 13th century, and a grand example of architecture from the time.

To learn about some of the area's most famous produce, jump in your hire car and head northeast of Siena, towards the village of Gaiole. Just outside the village is Castello di Brolio, a world famous winery. With vast areas of vineyards surrounding a central castle which dates back to the 11th century, the estate has been producing wine for over 500 years and is now well know throughout the world.

In the north you can visit the romantic city of Florence and spend a day enjoying the many museums and grand collections of art, or even visit the famous leaning tower of Pisa.
