A short drive north of Rennes, you can visit Mont Saint-Michel, without a doubt one of the most spectacular sights in France. Built on a granite island less than 1km from the mainland, Mont Saint-Michel is a fortified settlement including a large abbey, church and several museums. Dating back to the 10th century, the island is a truly spectacular sight, rising high above the water.
