Car Hire Madrid

Car Rental in Madrid

Originally an Arab city which was settled in the 9th century, Madrid began to take its current form in the 11th century when it was conquered by King Alfonso the 6th and converted into a Christian city. Influenced by many cultures over the coming centuries, Madrid is home to a long list of impressive historical buildings, and loads of museums and galleries, interrupted by vast outdoor spaces. With the massive bustling city and surrounding countryside ready to be explored, Madrid is an excellent destination for touring with a rental car. Auto Europe offers several pick up locations and a large fleet selection, so finding a car rental in Madrid is both easy and economical.

Travelling in Madrid with a Car Hire

A city blessed with excellent weather throughout the year, Madrid sees a relatively constant flow of tourists coming to see the sights. A bustling city that always seems to be busy, it can be hard to find a dull moment when there is something happening both day and night. Madrid is a city with an incredibly lively nightlife. Particularly when temperatures reach extreme highs of up to 45 degrees in summer, and the locals emerge in the evening once things have cooled down.

Although being a very large city, Madrid has a long list of attractions that are located not far from the city centre, and easily reachable with your rental car. Just a short drive east of the main city area, you will find one of the city’s most famous attractions, Museu del Prado, which houses one of the best collections of modern art in the world. If the weather is not too hot, and you’d like to soak up the sun in the lovely outdoors, right beside the museum you will find Parque del Buen Retiro, a massive park filled with many sculptures and monuments surrounding a large lake, the perfect place to escape the busy city streets and relax under the trees.

A short drive to the north and south of here with your rental car are two more of Madrid’s famous attractions, highly popular with visitors. For fans of history, the National Museum of Archaeology is found a short drive north, and south is the Reina Sofia National Museum and Art Centre, which contains a huge collection of modern art.

Drive your rental car across to the western edge of the city, where you will find one of the largest buildings in Europe, Palacio Royal, which is also an icon of Madrid. Built in the 1700s, the palace is made up of over 2,800 rooms and is the largest royal building in Europe. Just a short distance from here you will find another famous building, Almudena Catedral. A huge cathedral which took over 100 years to complete, it’s grand size alone is enough to warrant a visit.
