Auto Europe offers several pick up locations and a large fleet selection, so finding a car hire in Kerry is both easy and economical. Travelling in Kerry with a Car RentalYou can collect your car when arriving at Kerry Airport, or even make the drive down from cities such as Cork, Limerick and Dublin. Excellent roads and very few long distances make getting around in Ireland with a hire car a very convenient form of transport. Once you are ready to see the sights of Kerry, you can either go your own way and choose your own route, or follow one of the excellent tourist drives conveniently laid out for travellers. One of the most famous drives in all of Ireland is located here, and is known as the Ring of Kerry. Start off at Killarney, and follow the route across the countryside and along the peninsula. Most organised tours and chartered buses route anti-clockwise, so by travelling with a rental car you can avoid any traffic caused by other tourists and travel the ring clockwise at your own pace! From Killarney, drive your hire car towards Kenmare to the south, the first section of the route. On the way be sure to stop at Ladies View, a famous panoramic lookout, and Lough Leane, a picturesque lake. Several sights in the area are located quite close to Killarney, so the excitement begins as soon as you leave the city. Highly recommended is Killarney National Park, which is the oldest national park in Ireland. An excellent example of the Irish wilderness, the park is made up of rugged mountains, forests and waterways and is also home to Ross Castle, built in the 15th century. Near the town of Kenmare is an ancient site that holds a special place in the heart of locals. A stone circle, thought to be up to 3000 years old lies just outside the town, and is regarded as a place of worship built by Celts who once lived in the area. Another attraction not to be missed is Staigue Fort near Sneem. Drive your rental car along the ring, and visit the massive circular stone fort which was built over 1,500 years ago, a testament to early cultures in the area. Other towns and villages you will come across on the route include Caherdaniel, Waterville, Cahersiveen and Kells, all with a unique character of their own and definitely worth a visit for anyone lucky enough to be touring here with a rental car!
