Beneath the cathedral lies an ancient archaeological site, complete with Roman ruins and mosaics, giving an insight into the early history of the city. Once you have seen the cathedral, leave your hire car parked, and explore the surrounding area on foot for some interesting sights. Known as Old Town, the cobble stone streets and classical architecture make the area appear like a scene from the past, definitely worth a visit.
